Visiting Singapore in May 2023

Visiting Singapore in May 2023

Please share this article if you think it's awesome!

May is the quiet month before travel picks up next month. Other than Labour Day on 1 May, there’s no other public holidays this month. You can expect lower prices for hotels compared to June and July.

May is a hot month in terms of temperature. If you’re doing a lot of outdoor activities, don’t forget to wear sunscreen. Also, do prepare breathable clothing.

Singapore’s Weather in May

May is the Inter-Monsoon Period in Singapore. During this time, there will be frequent (and at times severe) thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening. Despite the thunderstorms, the afternoon temperature will be pretty hot, with maximum temperature above 32°C.

Based on historical data between 1991 to 2020, it rains 15 days out of 31 days. So, it will rain 48% of the month.

I recommend that you bookmark Singapore’s weather website, which is a very useful website to see current rain area & intensity, and to check the rain forecast for the next 4 days.

Most of the rains have pretty short duration. So you don’t have to cancel your plan if the forecast is rain. Just bring foldable umbrella if you’re planning to explore the outdoors.

May’s temperature hovers between 25.7 to 32.3 degrees Celsius (78.3 to 90.1 degrees Fahrenheit). Generally, the temperature in Singapore doesn’t differ much from month to month.

In May, the sun rises between 6.57am (1 May) to 6.56am (31 May) and sunset occurs between 7.06pm (1 May) to 7.07pm (31 May).
