Chinatown Street Light-Up will take place between 8 January to 27 February 2025, from 7pm to 12 midnight. The streets at Chinatown are decorated with colorful lanterns and sculptures of Snake, to mark the celebration of Lunar New Year.
Beside the street light-up and street decorations, there will also be festive fair / bazaar, weekly stage show and a countdown party on Chinese New Year’s Eve!
If you’re looking to soak in the festive atmosphere, here are the places to visit at Chinatown during this year’s Chinese New Year season.

Main Snake Lantern at Junction of Upper Cross Street and New Bridge Road
At the junction of Upper Cross Street and New Bridge Road, stood the centerpiece lantern which is the majestic 8-metre tall snake under the Tree of Propserity, above piles of ingots and gold coins.
The Tree of Prosperity is decorated with gold coins and red blessing tags to radiate hope and prosperity. The majestic snake, which symbolises wisdom and renewal, is coiled around an ingot to signify wealth and success.

Street Decorations along New Bridge Road & Eu Tong Sen Street
Along the New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Sen Street, you will find more snake lanterns of various sizes, complete with ingots, more trees of prosperity, festive greetings, SG60 lanterns, and various Chinese New Year ornaments.
Street Decorations along Upper Cross Street
The Upper Cross Street features red-and-gold CNY decorations and ornaments, with overhead fish-shaped, lion head, lantern and auspicious character ornaments above the road.
CNY Decorations at Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is decorated with red lanterns long its perimeter, as well as various couplets and paper cutting decorations.
Festive Fair at Chinatown Street Markets
Festive Fair and Bazaar will take place from 8 January 2025 to 28 January 2025, at Pagoda Street, Temple Street, Smith Street, Trengganu Street and Sago Street.
All these 5 streets are within walking distance from each other. To get there, simply take Exit A from Chinatown MRT Station, or Exit 1 from Maxwell MRT Station.
During the festive fair, there are plenty of stalls selling CNY goodies, such as bak kwa, baked goods, crackers, sweets, fruits and decorations. Some of the stalls do give out samples so that you can try before buying.
Festive Fair at People’s Park
The Festive Fair at People’s Park is a smaller-scale fair, where you can buy CNY goodies and decorations. It is located just outside Exit C of Chinatown MRT Station.
Chinatown Point
At the entrance of Chinatown Point, there are twelve zodiac sculptures, surrounding a huge table filled with food.
Weekly Stage Shows at Kreta Ayer Square
On 11 Jan, 12 Jan, 18 Jan, 19 Jan 2025, from 7pm to 9pm, there will be stage show at Kreta Ayer Square, which is the square between Buddha Tooth Relic and Chinatown Complex.
Countdown Party at Kreta Ayer Square
On 28 January 2025, the eve of Chinese New Year, there will be a Countdown Party at Banda Street Open-Space Carpark, which is next to Kreta Ayer Square, starting from 10pm.
During the Countdown Party, there will be firecrackers featuring a diverse assortment of comets, mines and fountains.
