I have always been a fan of Bavarian cuisine (I mean, who can resist the crispy pork knuckle?). So, Oktoberfest is high on my bucket list.
Each year, I would visit local restaurants that serve Oktoberfest-themed dishes in order to soak in the Oktoberfest vibes. This year, I had Oktoberfest Buffet at Edge Restaurant, and it was a blast!
Located at Level 3 of Pan Pacific Singapore, Edge’s Oktoberfest Buffet theme is “Tastes of Germany”. As the name suggests, there were plenty of delectable Germany cuisines.
The highlights of the Oktoberfest dishes include Bavarian Pork Knuckle, Slow-cooked Lamb Sauerbraten, Bavarian Beer Cheese Soup served with Pretzels and Bacon, Bratkartoffeln with Bacon and Onions, and many more.
Personally, I really enjoy the German Charcuterie section. There was a wide array of wursts, from Grilled Veal Bratwurst, Thuringer Snail Sausage, Weisswurst, to Cheese Kransky. It was heaven!
Also not to be missed is the cold cut section. There were Dry-cured Black Forest Ham, Beef Salami, Beef Salami, and Liverwurst.
It’s not all savoury food at this Oktoberfest buffet. At the dessert station, there were authentic German treats as well, including Crème Bavarois, Berliner, Apple Strudel, and Black Forest Cake. I especially LOVED the Bread and Butter Pudding, as well as German Cheesecake!
What better way to wash down all these delicious food than with a beer? So that’s what we did. We had The Portman Lager, which is exclusively brewed and bottled by Paulaner Bräuhaus Singapore for Pan Pacific Singapore. This smooth, full-bodied lager has radiant glow with delicate snow-white foam.
Beside beer, there were non-alcoholic options as well, such as tea, coffee and sodas.
There were 2 special soft drinks for Oktoberfest, namely the Elderflower soda and Spezi (a popular drink in Germany, made of coke with orange soda). It’s my first time trying both, and I have to say that I really like Spezi.
On top of German cuisines, Edge also offers their usual over-the-top buffet selections, including fresh seafood on ice, local delights (Chinese, Malay and Indian food), salted baked crab, carving station, pasta station, pizza stations, and various international cuisines such as Japanese, Thai, and western. You can read my previous articles here and here to see the non-Oktoberfest mouth-watering dishes.
This Oktoberfest buffet is quite special to us, because we celebrated our daughter’s 8 months old. We had a chocolate cake with candle from the nice staff. It was a really nice cake!
I’m also very pleased that my daughter is finally old enough to eat soft solid. She enjoyed the fruits the most! She loved the dragonfruit and watermelon.
