Exploring Nusa Dua Beach and Water Blow – Courtyard Marriott Nusa Dua Beach Club

Even though Courtyard Marriott Nusa Dua Resort doesn’t have its own beach within its resort, it does have a private beach club at Nusa Dua Beach, near Peninsula island, at the easternmost end of Jalan Pantai Mengiat. In the morning of our second day in Bali, we took the complimentary shuttle service of Courtyard to the beach. There wasn’t a fix schedule of shuttle bus timing; whenever we needed the shuttle, we just informed the staff and they would arrange for us. The journey between resort and the beach was quite short, probably between 5 to 10 minutes. The beach wasn’t a private beach, everyone is allowed to go there, however the beach clubs only allow their guests to enjoy the club’s facilities.

When facing the Peninsula island, the beach on the left is not for swimming. There was a signboard written in Indonesian language that say, “Bahaya! Dilarang Turun!” which translates to “Danger! Descending is Prohibited!” My friend was questioning on why the caution signboard is not provided in English language, since most of the tourists are foreigners who don’t understand local language. I totally agree with her. Moreover, there were news about high tide in Bali which hit certain resorts, on the same day that we visited Bali. Fortunately for us, the ocean was friendly on the day of our visit to the beach. Even the sky was so kind to show off its majestic composition and color. (more…)

Courtyard Marriott Bali Nusa Dua Review

I am not a luxurious traveler, but I’m not the extreme budget traveler either. I am at the middle of the scale, and leaning towards budget direction. However once in a while, I do not deny myself of luxurious experiences. For our 7D6N in Bali, we decided to stay for 2 nights in high-end hotel and the rest 4 nights in medium-end hotel, simply because we wanted to experience the best of both worlds. My friend searched for the cheapest high-end hotel in Nusa Dua area with private beach, and came up with Courtyard by Marriott. I think I must emphasize here, the private beach is actually a shared private beach with other resorts, but it was a good beach nevertheless.

Here is my personal unbiased review of the hotel, which is broken down into a few categories for easy reference. (more…)

Eating Cheap in Nusa Dua Bali: Nasi Ayam Ibu Oki, Babi Guling Pak Dobiel, Ulam Restaurant

Nusa Dua in Bali is known as the area with high concentration of luxurious resorts. When I did my research for cheap places to eat in Nusa Dua, nothing much came out. I was a little bit worried that I would have to burn my wallet for every meals in Nusa Dua. The truth is, my worry was short-lived. There are plenty of cheap foods in Nusa Dua. We tried these 3 restaurants during our stay in Nusa Dua. (more…)

Exploring St Regis in Bali: Gourmand Deli and Remede Spa

It was not in our itinerary to explore The St. Regis Bali Resort, on our first day in Bali. It was supposed to be checking in to our hotel at Courtyard Nusa Dua Resort, taking a shower, having lunch and lazing around in the hotel. However, despite having indicated in our online booking form that we intend to do early check-in, we were told to come back after 3pm because our rooms were not ready. Tired from lack of sleep the night before, and hungry because we haven’t eaten anything since the night before, we decided to roam around outside the hotel. We walked through Bali National Golf Club, and ended up at St Regis. (more…)

My Frustration Finding Taxi in Bali Ngurah Rai Airport, And How You Can Avoid It

So, my friends and I arrived at Bali Ngurah Rai Airport early in the morning, on a Wednesday, at International Terminal. Our plan was to get the official taxi to go to our hotel, Courtyard Marriott, at Nusa Dua. Being the one who speaks Indonesian language, I approached the official taxi counter and asked for the price. The staff, a middle-aged man, asked me how many people we have, to which I replied 3. He then said, “Rp 250 000”. I was shocked, because I knew Nusa Dua was not that far from airport. My eyes went straight to the price list behind him, it showed Rp 150 000 to Nusa Dua. (more…)

7 Days Bali Trip Overview (15-21 June 2016) – Itinerary & Cost

Bali seems to be that destination that everyone wishes to visit at least once in their lives. It also has that magical pull that keeps everyone, who has visited before, coming back every now and then. I myself am visiting Bali for the third time now, my friend however is visiting Bali for the third time in a year! It’s kind of crazy to think of how popular Bali is among the world travelers, countless of blog posts have been written about Bali, some movies are filmed there. Before my first visit in 2008, I imagined Bali to have plenty of skyscrapers and modern buildings in the city center. But I was wrong. The roads were narrow everywhere, and not many skyscrapers were around. Even now, the roads remain narrow. However things are getting pricier and pricier. (more…)
