Merlion, also known as Singapore’s icon, is a mythical creature that has the head of a lion and body of a fish. The lion head represents Singapura (means lion city in sanskrit), while the fish body symbolises Singapore’s beginning as a fishing village.
If you haven’t yet, I highly recommend visiting the Merlion Park. It is free of charge and it’s within walking distance from several other attractions. PS: Don’t miss out the Mini Merlion, which is just a couple meters away from the main Merlion!

Eat Durian
There are 2 types of people in this world: those who like durian, and those who hate durian. If you’ve never tasted durian before in your life, I highly recommend that you give it a try. Most Asian people (I’d say about 90%) love durians. In Singapore, some of the popular durian stalls are located at Ghim Moh Market, Katong, Toa Payoh and Geylang. Please don’t drink alcohol before or after eating durian, though!
